More information
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease of the exocrine glands that mainly affects the digestive and respiratory systems. It causes chronic lung disease, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, hepatobiliary disease, and abnormally high concentrations of electrolytes in sweat. Diagnosis is by sweat test or identification of 2 gene variants that cause cystic fibrosis in patients with a positive neonatal screening test or typical clinical features. Treatment is symptomatic and consists of aggressive multidisciplinary care, along with small molecule correctors and enhancers aimed at correcting the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator protein defect.
Scientific research with vaccines that are applied subcutaneously stop the disease by reducing the pathology by 70%.
In EBF Immunology, you will learn about the processes that allow our immune system to respond to evolving threats and understand new immunology-based disease treatments. Directed by professors of Medicine EBF and we present: detailed animations and illustrations of medical concepts videos of clinical applications that include real interactions between doctor and patient continuous evaluations with the ethics committee and scientific research, to guarantee mastery of the content
